Expats who rent out their UK homes could get their personal allowances cut as part of a government tax raid.
According to the Telegraph, chancellor George Osborne (pictured) is looking at plans to force non-UK residents to pay tax on all their UK income, which means expats receiving a government pension could also be hit by the proposals which could cut a couple’s income by up to £4,000 a year.
Currently EU nationals and British expats are entitled to offset income earned in the UK against the £10,000 personal allowance.
The Telegraph said the change could affect up to 400,000 people and raise an extra £400 million a year in tax.
